Before I begin, let us all take a moment to read a comment from a fellow Sone:
“This is why many international fans will never experience the true beauty behind kpop. The main reason being the language barrier. The song is a conversation between the girls about a boy. That is why the song goes…
The girls show cuteness in parts of the song as well (Fany bbuing bbuing anyone?). I Got A Boy really showcases the full range of what SNSD is capable of, from fierce and sexy, to cute, to soaring vocals, to challenging and slick choreography. I love it.
why is snsd #1 girls group? and why everyone questions what if they lose it and who is going to be the next #1?
Most awards, most fans, most sales, most famous. The following is my completely subjective opinion: most attractive, funniest, most varied talent.
I guess people wonder because they just worry about SNSD. Even if they weren’t #1 I would still love them so I don’t really think about it. I just want SNSD to do well, and I hope they continue to be #1 for a long time.
oppa, what if SNSD korean comeback is not good and the public won't like their song. can they lost their #1 girl group title?
Their comeback would have to be incredibly bad to lose their status as #1 girl group considering they have almost no competition for it. I’m talking like random nugu rookie girl group level bad here. SNSD is talented enough where they won’t have a bad comeback anyway.
hi there Jon! I know this subject has been discussed before but since your opinion really do maters to me I just wanted to ask you. What do you think about the people who edit and crop fansite pictures personally I'm really annoyed by them and it's really sad to see how they steal others work. So for those people do you think it's an alternative to edit press pictures or magazine, official pics to make their edits and macros or that isn't allowed either?
They suck. Even if they were given permission to edit pictures, they still suck because it’s all just terrible filters with bad colors that ruin the pictures anyway.
Beside ballad songs in 2nd Jap album , what song do you like the most ? Can you choose one ? The more I hear those songs, the more I like OTL , I can't even choose one song as the song I like the most those songs are super good >~< , awesome SoShi is awesome, yeah ? o(^~^)o
It’s hard to choose! I’ll be more specific when I write the review on the album for SSF :D
DON’T YOU DARE MAKE ME CHOOSE! They are both so amazing but for different reasons. SPICA has INSANE talent. One of the most vocally gifted groups out there right now, and they are only rookies. I like Fiestar more for their fun style, personalities, and songs. They have talent but it’s not the same kind of talent that SPICA has. SPICA even writes some of their own music.
jON COULD YOU HELP ME so could you tell me what happened with de GDA in 2010 why some elfs says snsd stole the award or why ist unfair etc' WHATS THE THRUT OR YOUR OPINION IM CONFUSED I AM KINDA NEW HERE
I believe Super Junior was predicted by their fans to easily win the Daesang, but SNSD ended up winning and some ELFs cried foul.
What can you say about the girls' standing in Japan with regards to market, fanbase, acceptance, performance in live shows?
They released a ton of singles this year that sold a lot. 2nd album has decent numbers compared to Korean competition, but then again all album sales for Korean artists are falling lately. They have a huge fanbase, and it’s difficult to get tickets to their concerts. If their 2nd Japan Tour is anything like their first, it will be amazing. SNSD has solidified themselves as a premiere artist in Japan who seem to be well liked.
Dear Jon, I wish you would stop with all the Gangnam style related tweets / retweets... As much as I respect the man and his success, I'm pretty sure many of your followers like myself are getting rather sick of the GS phenomenon... Just stating my thoughts. No offense. I really like you as a fellow sone. :P
I’m sick of the song too, but it’s still interesting to follow, especially since it’s rather unique to be seeing his face all over the place in the US. That said, I can tweet what I like, thank you very much :)
Where are you from? Can you speak/write Korean? I'm in the "admiring" mode right now! You're a really great SONE ^_^
I’m from New Mexico, USA. I can read/write/speak (with probably a completely terrible American accent) but I’m nowhere near fluent at all. Still very basic knowledge, but I try to learn as much as I can. Thank you for your kind words :)
I remember reading one of your posts about how you stored Soshi videos, such as MVs, in your thumbdrive. May I please ask how you get those MVs? I'm currently trying to download them from SSF, but most of the MF links are in 2 parts and I can't download HJSplit to combine them. Did you download all your MVs from SSF, or directly from YouTube?
Can I pls ask how come you replied to a question about a SNSD fact for the Ask Oppa/Unnie column on SSF? The one about how come they didn't have accounts on social networks? I mean really, even the replies weren't exactly opinion-based... So how is that question one that can be answered with an opinion?
Umm, it was an opinion question. What are our thoughts on why SNSD doesn’t have public SNS accounts. We gave our opinions why. SNSD not having a public Twitter or Facebook is not an “SNSD fact”. That would be something like “Taeyeon’s birthday is March 9th.” That’s a fact. If someone asked me “Why is Taeyeon’s birthday on March 9th” I wouldn’t answer it. Clearly there is a difference.

hello ^^ may i ask a weired question? is yoona a nice and a good person? like if u can tell me stuff about her, am a new fan and at first i didn't like her much but i honestly think she became my favorite, and i think bcz theres so much badmouthing her , thats why i was kinda not into her, but now i understand that the face gets the shit (i.e no one get more hate than yunho and the man is a walking angel =/) so yeah would love to now more abot aligatoryoong ^^
From everything I’ve seen and experienced regarding Yoona, she seems like a down to earth, fun girl with a nice outlook on life. She knows how to have fun, has a pleasant personality, and handles her role as the face of SNSD with pure class. It’s easy for her to get a lot of hate because she is SO gorgeous, and unfortunately people stop there without looking at what else she has to offer. She is an incredible dancer, a good and improving actress, and a kind person with a smile that can make you speechless (trust me, I couldn’t even talk in front of her at the fansigning in NY). I’m glad you were able to see past all the negativity and discover how great of a person Yoona is.
How do you feel about being one of the SONE that most people look up to. Cause sometimes I see people being rude because of the supposed "leadership" and they may take it out on you. Personally I think you've been a great example so far, but I was asking myself if it can be burdensome to you at some point
lol I don’t know about all this looking up to stuff and leadership or whatever…that just feels weird to even think about. I’m just a fan, but I guess people are interested in what I have to say or the pics and news (or my random Fanypack spazz), which is cool. I am happy I can help and do something that some people enjoy, because there are a lot of sones who do a lot and I enjoy what they do too.
As for people being rude or it being a burden, I suppose I do feel like retreating into my shell sometimes. I try to be friendly because that is how I would like to be treated but it still sucks when you see a stupid message or question on tumblr about yourself… I think the biggest burden is that I want Soshified’s front page to always be the best and fastest place for SNSD content, so along with the other writers and translators, we work really hard to make that happen.
Sometimes it feels like there are expectations on me to act a certain way or answer a certain way to please people or whatever, but I can only do what I want, which, among a general interest in Korean music and culture, is love SNSD. If people have a problem with the way I show that love, well there isn’t much I can do about that, so I try not to get bothered by any burdens like that (sometimes I fail and I rage on the inside, but that’s natural I think lol).
ok what is your honest opinion on flower power ? The song, the choreography and the mv itself?.. I heard some are finding the song and choreo rather messy and not up to par to the usual shoju jidai releases
Choreography is amazing. There are so many little intricacies that flow with the lyrics, and it is demanding and complex, much like Paparazzi. It has more of a flowing feel mixed with tight moves, which is really cool and different (also probably why people think it looks sloppy).
The song itself takes some getting used to, but I really like it. At first I was all ‘WTF’ at the ‘ah ah ah’ part, but now it’s one of my favorite sections. The chorus is really catchy, and I like all the different harmonies that are used throughout the song. The main vocals are clearly heard with the much maligned auto-tune being used mostly for effect on backing vocals, and on close listening you can hear the main melodies are relatively free of that effect.
It’s an ambitious song. Very different from SNSD’s normal style, but I love how SNSD always does something different yet manages to make it definitively ‘SNSD’.
what do you think of the assumption that all of sm entertainment's idols are supposedly close (ie best friends) just bcos they're a 'family'?
They spend a lot of time together. Being a family doesn’t necessarily make you best friends, but you’re still family right? I’m sure some of them don’t like each other, and some of them are really friendly and close. There are so many idols and trainees that it’s impossible for everyone to be all lovey dovey all the time.
What do you think of 4minute's HyunA and Jihyun respectively?
I used to like Hyuna a lot, back in Invincible Youth and her solo stuff up through Bubble Pop. Ice Cream is atrociously bad, and I find it wholly unappealing to the point where I don’t like her right now.
Jihyun is a cutie pie. The only 4Minute members I knew were Jiyoon and Hyuna, so I didn’t even know her until her cameo in The 3rd Hospital, but I was immediately smitten. SO CUTE. Now she is tied with Jiyoon as my favorite 4Minute member. Whenever I watch 4Minute performances now I can’t keep my eyes off Jihyun lol. Seriously she is adorable.
Do you know how Music Bank counts points? I've heard something about broadcast points give the large impact on the overall points but i'm not sure how it works. Can you explain it for me please? And how fans can gain that broadcast points?
It’s a combination of album sales (5%), digital sales (65%), broadcasts (20%), and viewer preference (10%). The broadcast points are for how often the song gets aired on TV or radio, like in the news and things like that. If something is popular it will be played more. I guess maybe it can be requested on radio and stuff, not sure how that would work.
